Chamber Overview

The Lake Area Chamber of Commerce serves the North Shore (W to Y Road), Lake Ozark, Horseshoe Bend, Osage Beach, Kaiser (Highway 42) and Linn Creek (Highway 54 to Y Road).

The Lake Area Chamber of Commerce is one of five chambers that surround the Lake of the Ozarks and ranks third in size in Central Missouri.

The Lake Area Chamber of Commerce membership number changes daily, but is currently 930 members.

Location of Office
The main office of the Lake Area Chamber of Commerce is the historic Willmore Lodge located northwest of the Bagnell Dam in Lake Ozark.

Willmore Lodge was constructed by Union Electric in 1930 during the construction of the Bagnell Dam.  The Lodge, with adjoining property, was sold in 1945 and has had a number of owners since. Union Electric reacquired the building and adjoining property in 1996 to be used as a visitors center, historical repository and Chamber offices. 

A satellite office and visitors center for the Lake Area Chamber of Commerce is located at the City of Osage Beach City Hall chamber Responsibilities

The Lake Area Chamber of Commerce is managed by an Executive Board and Board of Directors comprised of 15 area volunteer business members.  The Executive Director is responsible for the day-to-day operations and reports directly to the Board.

Ten committees of the Chamber have full decision-making and budget responsibilities.

History of the Chamber

In the Fall of 1934, a meeting was held in Zebra (former official name of the area that is now Osage Beach) and the Grand Glaize/Osage Beach Chamber was formed.  Total membership.40

On November 24, 1947, a group of business owners met in Lake Ozark and formed the Bagnell Dam Chamber  Total membership.86

In 1981, previous discussions between both Chambers led to a vote of 90% in favor of merging.  The combined Chamber was officially launched in 1982.  Total membership.160.

Today, Lake Area Chamber of Commerce membership is currently 930 members.
